Legal assistance provided to foreigners with a return decision

Target group: migrants who have received a return decision with a timeframe for voluntary departure, who have received a return decision under escort or who are subject to a public custody order

Goal: ensuring minimum guarantees regarding the means of appeal provided for by the legislation in force

Activities: legal advice and assistance, interpretation and legal representation in the administrative court

1. About the project

Short description: The objective of the project is to ensure minimum guarantees regarding the use of appeal methods provided for by the legislation in force for third-country nationals who are subject to a return decision and/or a public custody order.

2. How?

  • Legal advice and assistance provided constantly in both accommodation centers for foreigners taken into public custody, in Arad and Otopeni

  • Legal advice and assistance provided to migrants who have received a return decision with a timeframe for voluntary departure and have contacted the CNRR team

  • Legal representation in court by specialized lawyers from the CNRR network

  • Providing interpretation, especially in cases of speakers of rare languages

  • Dissemination of information materials to the territorial structures of the General Inspectorate for Immigration on the possibility of contacting the CNRR for free legal assistance

  • Training and expanding the network of specialized lawyers collaborating with CNRR

3. What have we achieved?

  • We have provided tailored legal assistance and counseling for all beneficiaries who have contacted the CNRR team

  • We have created good practices in the field of migration

  • We have trained lawyers who work in the field of migration, from the bars in Bucharest, Ilfov and Arad, and from the bars of the municipalities where there are courts of appeal
